Artist's Comments

I'm not going to bother explaining who this character is, because it's too difficult to describe. If you've seen Fullmetal Alchemist, then you should know. And if you haven't seen it, get yourself a copy of the Fullmetal Alchemist DVD Vol. 2, and watch "The Night of the Chimera's Cry." Then you'll understand why I feel so strongly for this poor creature.

I'm really happy with the way this turned out. I paused the DVD and used it as a reference, so it didn't take me as long as it should have. I managed to get all the colors fairly accurate too.

Steal this pic, and you die! Mwahahaha! Kidding, I wouldn't ever kill anyone. But I WOULD get very, very angry... fear my wrath!

Thank you, Lee-san! ^^ Your opinion means a lot to me, because you've seen the episode I'm talking about. So you know.
:iconaerithhojo:
Well, okay.

*SPOILER ALERT, for anyone who hasn't seen it*

Ed and Al, (The two main characters) are living in a house with a State Alchemist and his daughter. The guy needs to make something extraordinary in order to keep his house, so he decides to make another talking chimera. Now the last one he made was a long time ago, and he used his wife in the experiment. It died because it was too old. So he used his daughter and his dog instead, and spliced them together using alchemy. The poor girl was in so much pain. Then, she ends up dying as well in the end. It's really sad.

Well, it's a lot more complicated than that. It's hard to explain.

Thanks! Although, I can't really take credit for the cell-shading, as I was looking right at the DVD when I was coloring it. ^^; So it's basically just a copy.
:iconaerithhojo:
Interesting, I should take a look at that when you finish it.

*******MORE SPOILERS*******

Actually, it's a bit sadder than that. The military comes and takes Nina and her father away. Her father presumably to be punished for his violation of alchemy law, and Nina to be locked away somewhere to be studied. Ed uses Alchemy and tips the truck over as it's leaving with them, saying he wasn't going to let them do that to her, and Nina's cage breaks open and she escapes.

But Scar finds her and calls her an "abomination of god" and kills her, to end her suffering. He senses that she is in constant, terrible pain. When Ed and Al finally find her, she is quite literally a stain on a wall. In the saddest scene I've seen in the series, Ed keeps clapping his hands together and pressing them against the stain of Nina, trying to bring her back.

It's so very sad. :(
